Applying Moisturising Creams Before an Essential Oil

Would applying moisturising creams (*Admin removed brand name*) to the skin before an essential oil prescription prevent the oils from working. My understanding is that this cream acts like a barrier.
ANSWERHi Marie thanks for your question.
I did some research about the moisturising cream you mentioned. Are you aware that the main ingredient is a petroleum based ingredient called paraffin? It also contains glyceryl monostearate which according to the
The Chemical Maze Shopping Companion (Your guide to food additives and cosmetic ingredients) has "potential effects of allergic reactions and may cause dermatitis."
Essential oils break down petroleum products. To show this, just put a couple of drops of essential oil in a plastic (plastics are petroleum based) container and watch it destroy the container!
If your skin care product contains compounds such as these,
essential oils will work towards breaking down the chemicals, and may cause reactions on your skin.
I would highly recommend that you
use only natural, vegetable based products with essential oils, such as coconut oil, avocado oil (excellent for dry and damaged skin) or macadamia oil which act as a carrier oil.
Of course, make sure the essential oils you are using are also
guaranteed 100% pure, unadulterated, uncut, and free of chemicals, pesticides and heavy metals.
I only know of one company that provides such a guarantee and that is why I use only Young Living Essential Oils. Please visit
my store for more information.
I hope you find this information helpful.
Best wishes for natural skin care.
