I have to take herbs daily to use the bathroom. Is there an essential oil that would help me to not be constipated? Thanks
ANSWER:
Hi Peggy
Thanks for your question. Some essential oils have a stimulating effect on the digestive system so I can suggest essential oils that I have found to be excellent for constipation.
Firstly, though, please do check with your heath care professional and get the all clear that there is not an underlying condition to your constipation.
One of the most important things to do is to make sure you have an adequate water (not other beverages)and fibre intake.
Once you have the above things in check, the first essential oil I would use is peppermint essential oil. I only use pure therapeutic grade essential oil that is guaranteed to have no chemical/pesticides/herbicides residue so I can ingest the oil.
I use one drop in a glass of water.
Young Living Essential Oils produce a fantastic essential oil capsules for digestive health. these are called Digest and Cleanse. I use these when I travel as my body clock is messed up and my digestion takes some regulating! These contain essential oils of peppermint, carraway seed, ginger, lemon, fennel and anise. They are amazing!
Young Living also have an essential oil blend called Di-Gize which contains tarragon, ginger, peppermint, juniper, fennel, lemongrass, anise and patchouli essental oils. I know of people who rub one or two drops on the stomach (in a clockwise direction, as if the clock is on your stomach - this is the direction the large intestine moves the food) with some great results.
I hope you find the above information helpful.
